Arise TV broadcaster and anchor, Rufai Oseni, has taken to Twitter to question the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over their adamant position on sanctioning NTA for broadcasting acceptance speech presented by the Adamawa state APC governorship candidate, Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani.
Recall that Earlier on Sunday, April 16, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Hudu Yunusa, announced Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress(APC) as winner of the supplementary governorship election held in Adamawa on Saturday, April 15. Yunusa made the announcement while the commission was yet to receive results from 10 out of the 20 local government areas where the elections were held.
Following the announcement by the REC, Binani immediately held a press conference which was relayed live by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). The NTA is a government owned media house.
Subsequently, INEC headquarters released a statement invalidating her victory in the election and summoned the REC to Abuja.
Rufai reacting to this development, is asking why NBC has not fined NTA for televising Binani’s speech.
The NBC had previously fined Arise TV for some infractions. The latest media house to be fined is ChannelsTV for the interview with Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
