Manchester City Reduce Gap To 2 Points With 4-1 Victory
Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Erling Haaland Score
Manchester City on Wednesday night, proved once again that the title race for the English Premier League is far from over, and they did it in devastating fashion against table topping Arsenal.
Arsenal came into the game having survived a scare in the last game against Southampton where they had to come behind from a 1-3 deficit to make it 3-3.
It was obvious that the strain of winning game after game had started showing in the performances of the gunners.
Today, they lost the plot completely against a Manchester City team brimming with confidence after knocking out German champions, Bayern Munich from the Champions League quater finals.
Two goals in the first half by Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones had started the alarm bells for Arsenal.
Another goal from De Bruyne and the unstoppable hit man, Erling Haaland all but ensured the game was up for Arsenal, who pulled one back through Rob Holding.
The difference in class in the two teams was all too apparent and on full display in this match. It was a game of men against the boys from London and the result showed.
With seven games remaining for Manchester City, it is certainly their title to lose. With the way City are playing, they might just make it a treble this season.
In other games, Chelsea lost again to Brentford 0-2 at Stamford Bridge. This has been a disastrous season for Chelsea and they cannot wait for the humiliation to end. Frank Lampard just cannot catch a break as he has now lost 5 games consecutively since taking over as interim manager.
An own goal from Chelsea captain, Caesar Azpilicueta in the first half and a second half strike from Mbeumo of Brentfors settled the match.
Chelsea have lost the fire and teams no longer fear coming to Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard, just cannot seem to get the best out of the expensively assembled squard. The new coach effect is just not happening for this Chelsea team.
