The open letter written by Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Adichie, to United States President, Joe Biden, has been generating reactions from different quarters.
In the letter, Adichie urges President Biden to not legitimize the illegitimate election recently concluded in Nigeria. Adichie attacked the process and pointed out the organized violence and voter suppression inherent in the process .
Chimamanda’s letter had addressed all the issues leading to and after the hotly disputed elections.
Now, the Director, Media and Publicity of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Team, Bayo Onanuga, has come out swinging against Adichie’s letter.
Onanuga released a post on his Twitter handle asking President Biden to disregard Adichie’s letter.
This is what he posted:
“Dear President Joe Biden, please just trash the open letter by Chimamanda on Nigeria’s election once it gets to your desk. She wrote fiction, inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman Peter Obi”.
Recall that Bayo Onanuga has been fingered as one of the main protagonists of ethnic targeting in Lagos State during the election cycle, and a petition raised against the APC media chief, had been submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the matter.
