The Presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, has written an open letter to encourage his supporters known as ‘Obidients’.
In his letter, Obi stated that most of his supporters have suffered ‘’vituperations, physical attacks, loss of rights and privileges, hateful trolls, indignities and vexatious fighting words” and all these attacks emanate from people they have ‘’long regarded as civic leaders and conscience of our nation”.
He assured his supporters that he and his vice, Datti Baba-Ahmed are with the Obidients, and they should see the ‘’attacks ‘’as the sacrifices required to create a new Nigeria, where justice, equity, fairness, love, and prosperity shall reign.
The open letter was written days after professor Wole Soyinka described Obidients as “one of the most repulsive, off-putting concoctions” he has ever encountered in any political arena.
Peter Obi is challenging in court, the 2003 presidential elections that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
