Ajax defender, Calvin Bassey is on the verge of a new move to England with a fresh £15m bid made for him by premier league side, Fulham.
Bassey who only just moved to Ajax from Scottish side, Rangers last season has not had a very fruitful time at the famed Dutch side, Ajax. The left footed defender is a natural left fullback, but has been played out of position as a central defender in Ajax. This has affected his performances for the club with too many obvious mistakes, which come no doubt from trying to understand the demands of the new position in the team
Bassey had a very successful time in Rangers under former coach, Steven Gerard who guided them to the Europa League final and Scottish Premier League Title.
On the basis of those performances, Bassey made a move to Amsterdam based Ajax for a whooping £19m in a five year deal.
The 23-year-old Nigerian who is physically very imposing and has quick feet has been identified to bring his strong experience to Fulham, who are desperate to bolster their defensive capabilities in the new season. Fulham had one of their most successful seasons in the English Premier League finishing 10th on the table.
If Bassey makes the move, he would join another Nigerian, Tosin Adarabioyo in the defense line up for Fulham.
Unlike Tosin, Calvin Bassey is a full Nigerian International with 10 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
