The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has denied releasing any statement that stated that commercial banks can receive the old N500 and N1,000 from customers.
CBN reiterated that the old N500 and N1,000 are not legal tender and only the old N200 remains legal tender as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
There was confusion today as media reports were attributing the fake press release authorizing the banks to accept the old notes as coming from the CBN
Now, CBN has released an authorized counterstatement to clear the air
