Chimamanda Adichie, the famous Nigerian writer, has come down hard on the recently concluded national elections in Nigeria.

Adichie penned a letter in an article on theatlantic.com to United States President, Joe Biden.

Adichie summarized the election as a fraud and asked some pertinent questions of the American President on why America was congratulating the winner of the disastrous election. She also came down hard on the United Kingdom Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who had rushed to congratulate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

She mentioned the drugs case linked to Bola Tinubu and how he was ordered to forfeit $460,000 in drug tainted cash to the US Government in Chicago.

INEC, led by Professor Mahmood Yakubu was not spared. Adichie said Yakubu promised at Chatham House, that election results would be transmitted live from the polling station. That promise was never kept. Instead there was a rush to declare Bola Tinubu, the winner, despite all the glaring anomalies associated with the election.

She recounted as surprising the decision of the US State Department to congratulate Tinubu, while expressing shock at the apparent ineptness of the American intelligence services on the election.

Adichie ended the letter with an appeal to President Biden not to legitimize an illegitimate process.
