Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress have all asked for the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu to step aside and for an independent person to conduct fresh elections.

This call was made in a joint press conference in Abuja on Tuesday by the Chairmen of the parties.

The parties demanded for the conduct of fresh elections.

They said the elections were not free and fair or transparent.

The conference was anchored by the Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure.

Here is part of the statement in the conference.

“We shall not be part of the electoral process currently going on at the National Collation Centre and we demand that this sham of an election be immediately cancelled.

“We also call for a fresh election to be carried out in accordance to the laid down INEC procedure.

“We therefore call on Yakubu to step aside from his role.
