Nigeria opened scores again with a desperate move by Osinachi Ohale who rushed in the make sure a goal bound move by Asisat Oshoala was not going to miss the net. For her effort she got a huge kick in the tummy from Alanna Kennedy in the Australian defense line. The ball ended up in the net to make it 1-2 in favor of the super falcons.
Asisat Oshoala was still not done tormenting the Australian defense and her follow up on the ball after a miscalculation by the Australian defense and goalkeeper resulted in her first goal of the tournament to make the scores 1-3
At this point the Nigerian bench smelt victory and quickly made defensive changes to shore up the defense line. Ageless skipper, Onome Ebi was brought in to bring calm to the tight defense play by the Nigerians.
However, Alana Kennedy of Australia got one goal back deep in injury time after an amazing 11 minutes were added on for extra time. She scored off a header to make scores 2-3.
Australia kept on pressing but it was too late to save anything from the match.
