INEC: You Have 3 Days To Grant Us Access To BVAS Before Configuration – Labour Party

INEC-Chairman-Mahmood-Yakubu

The Labour Party has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has three days to allow the Party’s agents access to the Bimodal Voter Authentication System (BVAS) as ordered by the court or be ready to face the movement in the streets.

The Tribune Newspapers is reporting that the spokesman of Labour Party, Yunusa Tanko made this assertion in an interview with the paper.

Tanko said that INEC is constituiting itself as above the law in trying to choose which court order to obey or disobey on the BVAS issue.

Tanko accused INEC of going ahead to reconfiguring the BVAS machines despite the court order ordering it to allow the BVAS inspection by the Labour Party.

Tanko said if INEC did not allow Labour Party access then we would be forced to moilize ourselves and go to INEC office to demand for the rights of the people based on the last elections.

He said INEC was only obeying the court order which allowed INEC to reconfigure and ignoring the same court order that allowed access to the Labour Party.
He is quoted:

“So they worked in the order to reconfigure but are denying us the access by the same order to inspect the material before they re-configure.”
