Reports from the Daily Independent indicate that on Friday, 28 State Party Chairpersons of the Labour Party overpowered Police and forced their way into the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja.
The chairpersons had earlier been denied entry into the building by policemen of the FCT Command.
The chairpersons subsequently held a meeting and passed a vote of confidence on the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure.
The police had been called in to seal off the headquaters after 7 members of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by the National Vice-Chairman (South), Lamidi Apapa, had allegedly used thugs to gain entrance into the building and made a press statement announcing Lamidi Apapa as the new Acting National Chairman.
Julius Abure had dismissed the move and maintained that he remained the National Chairman of the party.
