Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi has stated that he made conscious efforts to deny Peter Obi of the votes of Ebonyi people during the last presidential elections.
Umahi added that he believes that what happened on the February 25, presidential elections was a protest against the APC and PDP past administrations.
Umahi who is a loyal member of the APC and supporter of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, made this disclosure during an interview on Channels TV.
According to Umahi, he was surprised that his own family had conspired against him and voted Peter Obi of Labour Party in the presidential elections. However, he said during the governorship elections, they all supported APC because of his (Umahi) influence as a good governor and all the positive changes he has brought to the state.
He further revealed that the massive support for Labour party during the last presidential polls was not for Peter Obi as a person, but a protest against hardship and challenges experienced by Nigerians.
Recall that Dave Umahi contested the APC presidential primaries election but lost to eventual winner Bola Tinubu. Umahi now contested, again for the Ebonyi South Senatorial elections on the platform of the APC in the same electoral cycle, and is now the Senator-Elect for the district.
