Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has ordered the arrest of Adams Oshiomole, the former governor of the state for his alleged role in the disturbances that resulted in the vandalization of banks by thugs protesting the new naira scarcity.

The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, made the statement on behalf of the governor on Wednesday after inspecting the damage done by the protests.

Nehikhare said they moved round the city and spoke with some of the protesters which led them to Oshiomole.

He is quoted:

“At this juncture, we will like to call on security agencies to call Adams Oshiomhole for questioning. He should be arrested and made to account for his movement in the last few days especially here in Benin City.

“Oshiomhole deliberately instigated the protest of the people,”

Adams Oshiomole is on the ballot for the Senatorial seat of Edo North on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
