The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike over fuel and cash scarcity that has caused untold hardship for citizens of the country. They also issued a 7-day ultimatum to the federal government to address and proffer lasting solution before expiration of the ultimatum.
This was disclosed by Joe Ajaero, President of the NLC, while briefing journalists today, March 13, at Labour House, on the outcome of a meeting convened by the Central Working Committee of the congress.
Ajaero warned FG that upon the expiration of the seven days, workers would be directed to stay away from work if nothing was done to ease the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.
He said: “On this issue of fuel scarcity and cash crunch, the Congress wishes to inform the Federal Government that we will no longer keep quiet.
“The NLC is giving the Central Bank of Nigeria and the FG seven working days, if they fail to do the needful at the expiration of the seven days, all workers in Nigeria should stay at home.”
