Lookup.ng Nigeria is reporting that the recent detention of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, by the United Kingdom immigration authorities has attracted the attention of Ohaneze Ndigbo and Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

Now the apex igbo group has condemned the apparent attempt to implicate Peter Obi in criminal acts in the United Kingdom.

The Acting President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Damien Okeke Ogene, described the incident as a deliberate act to silence Peter Obi and prevent him from retrieve his stolen mandate from the February 25th presidential elections.

Ogene pointed fingers at the Nigerian Government as the arrowhead of the incident while speaking to the Telegraph newspapers. He said:

They are at it again, and they are planning more to frustrate the voices of the Nigerian populace who were denied their constitutional right to choose their leaders.

“The first one was when Lai Mohammed accused Obi and Datti of treason, but that one was dead on arrival, and this time, they have planted some people to impersonate Obi so that if a crime is committed, they would hold him responsible

Ogene added that the plot would fail as Nigerians knew exactly what they were planning.

Speaking on the same issue, Chukwukweme Ezeife, the former Governor of Anambra State implored the United Kingdom Authorities not tbe used as an instrument to destroy their relationship with Nigeria.
Ezeife added that the UK authorities know Peter Obi very wel as he has been staying in the UK for more than two decades without blemish. Ezeife asked the UK authorities to fish out those involved in the impersonation plot and make their identities public.

Recall that Peter Obi was apparently detained by UK immigration when he landed in the country last week. It in not clear how his identity could have been mistaken since he is a well known public figure that had lived previously in the UK for decades.
