Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Starlink, the satellite internet service provider, has disclosed that Russia tried to block Starlink signals, due to the use of the service by Ukraine in the war with Russia.
SpaceX, the parent company of Starlink, said it had taken steps to prevent Ukraine’s military from using the Starlink service for controlling drones in the war with Russia.
These actions has prompted US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to speak with Elon Musk about the use of Starlink services in the Ukraine.
Blinken had refused to categorically say if the United States had asked Elon Musk to not restrict the use of Starlink services by the Ukrainian military.
He only confirmed that they have been conversations with Elon Musk on the matter.
There have been complaints from the Ukrainian military on the sudden restriction of the Starlink services when the Russian military is currently escalating hostilities with a push to capture more territories.
The Ukrainian military has been dependent on Starlink services to connect drones that are used to strike Russian military targets in the ongoing war.
