Bayern Munich Forward, Sadio Mane, has been fined £250,000 for punching his team mate, Leroy Sane after losing 3-0 to Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals.
Mane had earlier been suspended for the action, and this fine is the biggest ever fine issued by Bayern Munich for a player infringement. Mane was subsequently dropped for the game against Hoffenheim at the weekend.
However, before we start feeling sad for him, Sadio Mane is presently on a £17m / year contract at the Munich club and so can easily handle the fine. He is one of the best paid players at the Munich side.
Mane punched Sane after the Manchester City game over some arguments after the team had lost badly. Sane was left bleeding with a punctured lip.
Ironically, both Mane and Sane are of Senegalese origin. Sane played a couple of seasons for Manchester City and is a German International, while Mane, a Senegalese International, came to Bayern from a very successful spell at Liverpool.
