Ghanaian International player, Christian Atsu, is said to be trapped in a collapsed building rubble following the earthquake today in Turkey.
Atsu who previously played for Chelsea and Newcastle in the English Premier League, joined Turkish Super Lig club, Hatayspor in 2022.
There are reports that a search and rescue operation is underway for Atsu, who was signed by Chelsea in 2013 but never played a competitive game for the club. He was sent out on repeated loans to various clubs, before securing a move to Newcastle United.
The earthquake in Turkey and Syria has claimed many lives with the casualties topping 1,600 and thousands more injured. The quake affected Turkey and the northern part of Syria with vibrations felt as far as Lebanon and Cyprus.
