Elon Musk, the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter has announced that he has found a new CEO for the microblogging platform.
Musk hinted that it is a female and she would be starting in 6 weeks’ time
He tweeted:
“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!”
Musk also stated that he would remain in the management of the platform and transition to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
However, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the likely new CEO is Linda Yaccarino who is currently an executive at media giants, NBCUniversal.
Elon Musk, who is one of the richest men in the world had become CEO when be bought Twitter for $44billion in October 2022.
He had said he would appoint a new CEO if he could find “someone foolish enough to take the job”.
The Twitter CEO job is a high pressure and high visibility position, and with Musk always hovering in the background, it will certainly not be an easy task running the platform.
The news about Linda Yaccarino is still unconfirmed but she certainly has a deep media background having worked at Turner Entertainment for 15 years before joining NBCUniversal in 2011.
Twitter is currently facing a revolt of big Advertisers who are leaving or threatening to pull their ads from the platform due to the erratic and turbulent style of Elon Musk.
Maybe, just maybe this new CEO announcement might help stem the tide and steady the ship of Twitter.
