The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak who congratulated, Bola Tinubu, the “winner” of the hotly disputed Nigerian election, has come under fire from Nigerians who accused him of supporting illegality and corruption.
The election was called for Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite glaring irregularities, which have been called out by the opposition parties.
“The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries,” Sunak posted on Twitter.
Sunak’s Twitter page was flooded with responses from Nigerians angry over what is perceived as a stolen illegitimate election which was procured by the ruling APC. Many pointed out that Sunak was not even elected as Prime Minister and is afraid to call for elections in the UK.
One Twitter user @Oluomoofderby posted:
Stop this nonsense Rishi Sunak
You will be out of Number 10 Downing Street soon
@Keir_Starmer is our incoming Prime Minister
Do they rig the elections in the UK?
You call ballot snatching a victory?
Shame on you Rishi. The worst PM ever.
