The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has said that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, worked against his presidential campaign during the February 25th election.
Obi said this today on the Arise TV Morning Show while reacting to a question about the election.Earlier this week, Wike had declared that Obi was the hero of the election for preventing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from winning its traditional strongholds in the South East and South South
Obi said he won overwhelmingly in Rivers State but the results were manipulated in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Nyesome Wike. This was the first time Obi had actually pointed fingers at Nyesom Wike for the INEC declared results in Rivers State.
It is believed that the real results of th presidential elections in Rivers State were won by a large margin by the Labour Party.
Nyesom Wike is alleged to have influenced the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in the state to swing the elections in favor of Bola Tinubu.
In the same program, Obi also declared that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, remains the best candidate for the Lagos Government House and he supports him fully.
He said the attempt to play ethnic politics in the Lagos elections was uncalled for, because the people that voted for him to win the presidential elections in the state, were from across all the ethnic groups in Nigeria.
